Nobody can honestly say, "I know what you're going through." or, "I know what you're thinking."
Umm. No you don't. Because you're not me. I don't care how well you think you know me, I guarantee you don't have an inkling of what goes on in my head.
I'm not putting myself on a pedestal either. Everybody is different. And we're not mentally telepathic. Every one of us goes through life thinking something different from everyone else at all times. Even if two individuals have the same thought at the same time, it's still not the same because those two individuals are different.
I just went back and reread that. It puts humanity into perspective a little bit. How can anyone ever relate to another person? How can something like marriage even exist? How can anybody expect to find another individual who is compatible on a level like that?
It really doesn't seem likely.

I know exactly what you mean! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think you're putting up barriers. People are sentient beings, so even though they don't know exactly how someone feels, they can imagine how they themselves might feel. They're compassionate, and instead of pushing the compassion and care away, chose to embrace it. That's how people are compatible - through shared experiences and emotions.
